Accountant

Summary Accountant position reports to the Finance Service in the Malcolm Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Responsible for preparing, reviewing and reconciling general ledger. Analyzes accounting data, researching discrepancies and determines root causes to support financial reporting and data integrity. Identifies abnormal balances. Participates in process improvement consistent with governing standards and established Veterans Affairs/Veterans Administration Healthcare procedures. Responsibilities Include but not limited to: Prepares written instruction, desk guides, or SOP updates for assigned processes. Provides technical input to supervisors or lead staff and business partners. Perform month, quarter and year end close activities. Compile trial balances and working papers. Investigate and resolve abnormal balances, prior period adjustments and clearing/suspense accounts.
