About the Role

Be part of a team driving a significant regulatory development under the Deposit Takers Act. The Specialist Supervision, Licensing & Authorisations team was created in 2023 to develop a new licensing framework and modernise the Reserve Bank’s approach to licensing and other authorisations.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and update the licensing framework for the Deposit Takers Act for existing banks, non‑bank deposit takers and insurers.
• Manage responses to licensing enquiries from banks, NBDTs and insurers.
• Process new license applications and coordinate with teams that conduct assessments.
• Oversee the restricted‑word regime that governs the use of terms such as “bank” and “insurer” in firm names.
• Consider potential breaches of the regulatory perimeter and refer unlicensed activities to the relevant teams.
