Asphalt Milling Machine Operator


General Description


A Milling Machine Operator is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs on construction projects any combination of the duties described more fully, below. A Milling Machine Operator typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the work flow dictates.

Key Duties

  • Must be able to operate a milling machine while capable of maintaining the depth of cut and cross slope that will achieve the results specified in the project contract documents

  • Able to remove existing asphalt pavement by milling to improve the ride ability and cross slope of the pavement, to lower the finished grade adjacent to existing curb prior to resurfacing, or to completely remove existing pavement

  • Understand and follow specific plans to specify an average depth of cut
