Cable Jointer – Trainee

The Opportunity

Are you ready to kickstart a career in the energy network industry? We are looking for a motivated Trainee Cable Jointer to join our Auckland Energy & Utilities team. This is a hands‑on opportunity to learn the specialist trade of LV and HV cable jointing while working towards recognised industry qualifications.

You’ll work alongside experienced Cable Jointers, supporting installation, maintenance and fault response activities across Auckland’s underground electricity network. Over time, you’ll build capability in:

• LV and HV cable jointing techniques
• Installation, maintenance, and repair of underground cables
• Fault finding and network restoration work
• Safe use of tools, plant, and specialised jointing equipment
• Identifying hazards and applying effective risk controls
