Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

**Job Summary and Responsibilities**

The certified occupational therapy assistant is responsible to the registered occupational therapist that is responsible for the implementation of standards of care for occupational therapy services. The certified occupational therapy assistant performs only those services planned, delegated, and supervised by the registered occupational therapist.

1. Applies the knowledge and skills needed to do the job while keeping informed about practices, procedures, and new developments related to own work including: communicating with patients/families and case management regarding treatment procedures/activities and progress/concerns throughout treatment, recognizing changes in the patient’s medical status and notifying the Occupational Therapist and nursing timely when needed, aware of changes/additions that would benefit patient’s treatment program, maintains timely communication with the therapist regarding the need for re-evaluating a p...
