Doctoral Researcher – Structural Health Monitoring and Condition Assessment of Bridges

Aalto University’s Department of Civil Engineering invites applications for a PhD researcher focused on the intersection of structural engineering and artificial intelligence. The research will develop and apply innovative sensing technologies and data‑driven approaches to monitor, assess and manage civil infrastructure, particularly bridges.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct laboratory and field experiments to assess structural health using direct and indirect sensing methods, including remote sensing techniques.
• Apply finite element analysis and machine‑learning methods to interpret sensor data for damage detection and condition assessment.
