The opportunity

This is a regional town with a population of about 13,800 people, with 15% identifying as Aboriginal with about 12,000 emergency attendances each year. Seeking a senior General Inpatient doctor with primary responsibility to manage medical / psychiatric inpatients and supervision / assistance in Emergency Department. May need to interrupt ward round for high acuity ED presentations prior to 0900. Once ward round completed, (usually early-mid-afternoon), to work in ED & respond to ward calls.

This shift is normally covered by 1 doctor from Monday to Sunday for continuity of care. The senior doctor may be assisted by a ward trainee medical officer when one is available.

The location

The city is also known as cross roads of Australia because of its strategic position at the junction of three major Australian highways, and two railway lines. Whichever direction you go from here, the Australian Outback is never far away.
