Opportunity Description

Position Summary

This course is designed to help Teacher Candidates to learn how to effectively meet the needs of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit learners in the classroom and connect non‑Indigenous learners to Indigenous knowledges, worldviews, and related practices through relevant and meaningful academic programming and co‑curricular activities. Topics include sovereignty, identity, land treaties, language reclamation and revitalization, environmental sustainability, and historical and contemporary issues impacting Indigenous self‑determination in the Canadian sociocultural and socioeconomic landscape.

Successful candidate will work with the course lead to provide consistency across sections.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, or Indigenous Knowledge Keeper; teaching experience with K‑10 students in FNMI topics and/or lived experience as an Indigenous person (as per Laurier verification process); evidence ...
