JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Demonstrates a general knowledge of disease processes, and surgical procedures, including, but not limited to: cardiovascular, pulmonary diseases, endocrine, multisystem involvement. Provides direct patient care in the outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation setting with the objective to decrease mortality and recurrent morbidity after a cardiac event/intervention and those with chronic pulmonary disease. Responsible for detailed and accurate medical and psychosocial patient assessment, with the ability to respond in a timely manner to changes in patient condition, using initiative and independent judgement. Responsible for cardiovascular and pulmonary risk factor assessment, goal setting, exercise training, education, counseling, and evaluation of patient progress and response to treatment.
