The Audiology Extern at Albany Medical Center will observe and participate in the administering of diagnostic audiological tests that allow the differentiation between types of hearing disorders. The Audiology Extern’s duties will include, but are not limited to providing audiometric evaluations, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions and stapedial acoustic reflex testing for adults and children. The Audiology Extern will be asked to obtain a NYS hearing aid trainee license and will be exposed to hearing aid testing, selection and fitting to all populations. In this position, the Audiology Extern will be mentored by department Audiologists as they counsel patients regarding test results and review options that best meet their hearing care needs.
