Hospital Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist – Rotorua Hospital (Part Time, Fixed Term Contract)

Overview

This role is part of the Mental Health and Addiction Services team. The position will support patient care across the Acute Response/Home Based Treatment Team (ART/HBT) and consulting liaison clinicians, with possible rotations to in‑patient or other community settings, based primarily in Rotorua with extended in‑reach to the satellite hospital in Taupō. The role contributes to the newly implemented Te Ara Tauwhirotanga care pathways, a model co‑designed with community participants that fosters recovery and healing.

Responsibilities

• Provide general psychiatry services across a broad range of acute and community settings.
• Offer senior advice and support to general medicine teams in assessment and diagnosis of presenting conditions.
• Participate in the Acute Response/Home Based Treatment team and liaison clinical services.
