About the Role

Part‑time position (0.56 FTE) working Monday to Friday. Support tamariki and rangatahi through therapeutic play, learning, and wellbeing during their hospital journey. Deliver therapeutic play, education and recreation programmes that support the development and wellbeing of infants, children, and young people during hospitalisation. Help children and their whānau navigate the challenges of healthcare experiences through play‑based learning, preparation, and emotional support.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Hospital Play Specialist team at Tauranga Hospital is a small, dedicated group of registered hospital play specialists and registered early childhood educators. Working primarily within the Paediatric Ward, the team provides programmes that promote ongoing learning, development, coping, and resilience while helping to reduce the stress and anxiety associated with illness, treatment, and hospitalisation.
