Alley Buyer (Livestock Procurement)

Job Summary: The Alley Buyer is responsible for handling livestock in a hog yard environment. This role involves sorting, counting, weighing, tattooing, permanently identifying, and penning livestock according to segregation programs, as well as learning pork procurement programs, carcass merit evaluation, harvest sheet processes, and buying procedures. The Alley Buyer will also serve as a relief buyer during manager absences for training or vacation coverage.


Key Responsibilities:

• Sort, count, weigh, and permanently identify hogs.


• Pen animals according to segregation programs.


• Learn and apply pork procurement programs, carcass merit data, and harvest sheet processes.


• Understand weight docks, buying procedures, and long-term contractual agreements.
