Qualifications and Experience

: A two- year college diploma in child studies or a related educational field is required. Previous English Second Language instruction is preferred. Related employment or volunteer experience in teaching, social work or immigration services is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. TESL qualifications are an asset. Skills Required: Sensitivity to diversity and the needs of English Language Learners (ELL) from many different backgrounds Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply the basic precepts of education such as, a positive attitude towards learning and a belief that all learners can improve Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills Well developed listening and communication skills Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of information Ability to be flexible, adaptable, patient and understanding Proficient with word processing and related computer software ...
