Job Description:

The Weekend Fitter welder role involves correctly fitting and welding fabricated and forged components to assemble header components using Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and/or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes as required. Proficiency in blueprint reading for layout is essential. Responsibilities include positioning, aligning, and fitting components together, tack-welding parts to secure them for welding, and setting up welding equipment for various materials. The job also involves hammering wedges and drift pins, grinding rough edges, surplus weld, or scale using a portable grinder, and positioning workpieces manually or with overhead or jib cranes. The candidate will also straighten warped or bent parts using a straightening press and must be skilled with a cutting torch and/or plasma cutter.
