HGV Refuse Driver / Waste Collection Driver (Local Authority)
Rate of Pay: £14.99 per hour
Department: Environmental Services / Waste Management
Hours: Mon - Fri, 6:45am – 3.45pm, 3.30pm finish Friday (Bank Holidays included)
Location: Tameside
As a Class 2 HGV Driver you will safely operate refuse collection vehicles and assist in the efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of household waste, ensuring high standards of public health, safety, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles (e.g., bin lorries) safely and efficiently
* Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues
* Collect household, recycling, and commercial waste along designated routes
* Work closely with loaders/collection crew to ensure smooth operations
* Ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations
