Opportunity Description
Performs clinical tests in anyone of or a combination of areas of specialization depending on the size and scope of the laboratory activity. Maybe assigned to or receiving supervision from Chief Technician.
Responsibilities
- 3.1 Prepares tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis.
- 3.2 Gross descriptions of small, uncomplicated specimens are recorded where appropriate, using specific terminology according to procedure.
- 3.3 Tissue samples are prepared using correct procedures for preservation including, processing, freezing and embedding as appropriate per procedure.
- 3.4 Tissue samples are sectioned using good microtomy techniques on microtomes to produce acceptable quality slides for staining according to procedures.
- 3.5 Workload is prioritized and managed to meet expected Turn‑Around‑Times (TATs).
- 3.6 Competence is maintained and new skills added as technology changes.
