Lab Assistant

Job Purpose

To perform the responsibilities of a laboratory analyst by conducting assigned genomics research and molecular service activities, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all results.

Key Accountabilities / Individual Accountabilities

• Responsible for receiving and processing samples delivered to the laboratory for genomic research activities or marker screening services, including performing sample inventory recording and management.
• Conduct genomic DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, DNA quantification and quality assessment, PCR amplification, digestion, and qPCR tasks.
• Ensure accuracy, reliability, and quality of all assigned laboratory tasks.
• Assist in scheduling and monitoring daily laboratory operations, including recording and reporting laboratory results.
• Responsible for changing reagents and consumables on genomic equipment as required.
