Nurse Practitioner

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working as a member of a multi-site, inter-professional Crisis Intervention Team in the Emergency Department (ED), the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide psychiatric assessment and consultation services to youth and adults with mental health and substance use disorders in collaboration with the Psychiatry team. Based in ED, the NP will function with a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the management of ED patients referred to Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) Program for consultation and assessment. Reporting to the MHA Program, the NP will assess and treat mental health needs.
The NP is responsible for: autonomously diagnosing, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; prescribing pharmaceuticals and performing specific procedures within the legislated scope of practice; providing direct patient care focusing on health promotion, client centred care, and maximizing clients' safety and function during their pa...
