Pastoral Support Assistant – KS2 SEN Alternative Provision (New Forest)


A nurturing KS2 alternative provision in the New Forest is seeking a Pastoral Support Assistant to provide consistent, relational and highly personalised 1:1 support to pupils with a range of SEN and SEMH needs. The provision delivers a broad, balanced and diverse curriculum through a therapeutic, sensory, practical and outdoor‑based approach, tailored to each child’s individual development and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver calm, relational and 1:1 pastoral support to KS2 pupils with diverse SEN/SEMH needs

  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, anxiety, sensory needs, transitions and social communication

  • Engage children through therapeutic, sensory, practical and outdoor learning activities

  • Promote emotional wellbeing, safety and positive behaviour using nurturing, trauma‑informed approaches

    • Full-time Counselors, Social Workers, and Other Community and Social Service Specialists
