Opportunity Description

The Johns Hopkins University's Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics invites applicants for one or more positions as Postdoctoral Fellow. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. prior to their appointment start date, and no later than 08/30/2026, and show definite promise in research and teaching. The teaching load will be at most one course each semester, and often as little as one course per year, depending on funding and the needs of the department, so that the appointee will have ample time for research. The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal, depending on funding availability.

The successful candidate will work with Professor Nicolas Loizou on foundational and algorithmic aspects of min-max optimization, with applications to machine learning, artificial intelligence, and large-scale reinforcement learning.
