Scrub Tech

Independently functions in a professional manner as the Surgical Scrub Technician/Operating Room on a wide variety of surgical procedures. Selects and prepares the appropriate supplies and equipment for the surgical cases. Operates surgical equipment. Scrubs on surgical cases, participates in surgery by organizing the instrumentation to the surgeon, participating in surgical counts, and performs related activities under the directions of the surgeon. When not participating on surgical cases the Technician will assist the circulator, with positioning obtaining needed items during surgery, and assisting in room turnover activities. The Technician will participate in Operating Room activities related to quality improvement, continuing education, orientation of new
personnel and emergency preparedness. Other duties as assigned
• All specimens are handled according to policy from Lab after verification from surgeon as to tissue identification and desired
tissue request.
