Opportunity Description
An established plastic manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Toolmaker with plastic manufacturing experience to join their team in Johannesburg. The Senior Toolmaker will make, maintain, and repair the moulds used in plastic injection moulding. They ensure the moulds work correctly so production runs smoothly and efficiently. The job needs strong technical skills, precision machining, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Operate and understand CAD/CAM systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Edgecam, Mastercam ).
- Diagnose and resolve mould defects, providing practical solutions.
- Assist in project planning by breaking down complex jobs into manageable tasks.
- Maintain and update records and digital systems (timesheets, inventory, mould history).
- Monitor and manage daily workflows to align with the master production schedule.
- Raise alerts when project delays or challenges (“Red Flag” issues) occur.
