Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Follow all laboratory procedures and policies, demonstrating required competency and proficiency.
• Perform testing in all laboratory sections: Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Blood Banking.
• Collect and label specimens, verifying patient identity according to established procedures.
• Obtain blood specimens by skin puncture or venipuncture, maintaining specimen integrity for the respective test.
• Collect and prepare body fluid specimens for testing.
• Respond to STAT call results, patient waiting or timed specimens, and notify physicians of critical lab values with complete documentation.
• Review pending and outstanding reports each shift and follow up to resolve outstanding specimens.
• Segregate and pack outsourced lab specimens according to requirements in a timely manner.
