Lawyer Childcare

A Lawyer in the Local Support Unit (LSU) will have an understanding of the law relating to the post and will play a vital role in supporting the LSU in its delivery of high‑quality legal services. No previous local government experience is necessary, but the role holder should be able to demonstrate an in‑depth understanding of the work done by this council and operate comfortably alongside a professional client.

The lawyer’s main responsibilities include:

• Completing all aspects of straightforward to moderately complex legal casework, including drafting and negotiating complex documents, and working under limited supervision to contribute to service delivery outcomes.
• Representing the relevant client at all case‑related meetings and conducting advocacy, including contested hearings at appropriate court hearings.
• Achieving chargeable hour targets and maintaining strict adherence to the Lexcel quality standard, including time recording.
