DUTIES: Performs skilled practical nursing procedures or treatments (e.g. administers oxygen; conducts blood glucose testing; applies sterile dressing, inserts catheters; gives enemas & douches; collects specimens), assists physicians (e.g. with client & new employee physical exams, treatments &/or lab tests) & assists in emergencies (e.g. first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, restraining clients), conducts neurological & circulation assessments (e.g. aspirin, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, decongestive, antihistamines, thyroid & cardiovascular preps, psychotropic) medication in oral, rectal or injection form (i.e. administers intramuscular & subcutaneous injections & TB skin tests), provides medication instructions to clients.
