Licensed Practical Nurse Full-Time

What you would do as a Licensed Practical Nurse at NODC:
Performs nursing procedures under direction of psychiatric/MR Nurse: transcribes physician's orders; administers controlled (e.g., narcotics, minor tranquilizers) & non-controlled (e.g., aspirin) physician prescribed medications in oral, rectal, topical or injection form & physician ordered treatments (e.g., administers oxygen, applies sterile dressings, inserts catheters, reinserts gastrostomy tubes, suctions, collects specimens) to residents with mental retardation & developmental disabilities; checks residents for positive & negative reactions to medications &/or treatments; reports negative reactions to Psychiatric/MR Nurse &/or physician immediately & documents incident; assists physician(s) (e.g., with physical exams, treatment, &/or laboratory tests); treats medical emergencies (e.g., first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation) & responds to other emergencies (e.g., restrains residents, applies Heimlic...
