Medical Assistant

This is a position for a Medical Assistant with the Department of Family Medicine. Under direct supervision this position will assist with clinical duties and provide direct patient care, including taking vitals, administering meds/treatments, assisting physicians, doing wound care, patient education, documentation, and coordinating care, labs, and follow-ups in a fast-paced office. Location: US-VA-Portsmouth.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients by obtaining vital signs, following standing triage orders, reconcile medication list, reconcile allergies, make sure immunizations are up to date and prepare patient for the visit.
• Completes delegated tasks from the current and prior day i.e. patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health agency requests, medication prior authorizations, patient forms, and physician follow-up.
