Medical Technician

Summary Position serves as a Medical Technician for Phlebotomy and Specimen Receiving located in Laboratory Service at the VAMC Grand Junction. This position will be posted for a 90 day period though candidates will be reviewed and qualified candidates will be referred to the Hiring Manager for consideration on a bi-weekly basis. Responsibilities Duties include but not limited to: Perform venipunctures in accordance with facility and lab policies and procedures. Verify correct patient identification and performs proper specimen handling and labeling (accurately labels all samples correctly with patient/sample identifiers). Verify lab test request are consistent with physician orders. Generates labels, sorts labeled specimens, and delivers samples to appropriate lab sections.
