Summary:
Performs a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the UNCHCS.

This position performs product modification such as making syringe aliquots for neonates, deglycerolizing and washing RBC’s. This position irradiates and issues products for transfusion, splits blood products, thaws frozen products, pools cryoprecipitate, receives products from the supplier, returns non-transfused products, and transports products to Carolina Air Care (CAC). This position also performs routine pretransfusion serological tests such as ABO/Rh Grouping, Antibody Detection and Identification, Crossmatching, and, Phenotyping.
