Summary This position is located in the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) of the VA Medical Center in Tomah, WA. Responsibilities Driving patient transport vehicles to and from VA Medical Center facilities, outpatient clinics, other healthcare facilities, patient homes, bus stations, airports, etc. Driving predetermined routes, scheduled routes, and unexpected/special trips; Operating van/bus doors to allow patients on and off the vehicle, checking ID cards, and taking measures to ensure patient safety; Reading installation maps and judging road and traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route; Loading and unloading patients, medical supplies, wheelchairs, etc. Checking fluid levels, checking tire pressure, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and performing inspections to ensure safe and proper operation; Maintaining records, documenting actions, and submitting accident/incident reports; Using two-way radios to maintain communication with dispatcher/supervisor; Provid...
