Nurse 2 - Provincial Health Contact Centre

Position Overview

Answers calls 24 hours/day, 7 days/week performing assessments and providing clinical support services.

• Provides professional assessment of callers need(s), basic health related information, assistance with decision-making related to need for professional health care, including appropriate care level and urgency, assistance with resource identification/referral and follow-up. Uses education, experience, approved written protocols/criteria and the nursing process to provide service.


• Documents demographic data and caller encounter on the electronic health record. Understands and practices principles of client empowerment and health promotion.


• Intake Nurse processes new home care program nursing referrals from community sources such as physicians, walk‑in clinics, outpatient departments, hospitals out‑of‑of province or country for Manitobans who have received health care in Manitoba.
