Orthotist/Prosthetist (Advanced Practitioner)

Summary This position functions primarily in the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service at the Olin E. Teague Prosthetic Treatment Center in Austin, TX. The Non-Supervisory GS 12 Orthotist/Prosthetist as an Advanced Practitioner at smaller independent O&P laboratories and/or spends more than 25% of their time on higher level activities of a significant scope of complexity, and range of variety beyond the full performance level GS 11 positions. Responsibilities Major duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for assuring accreditation of the laboratory, regulatory compliance and a variety of administrative duties such as budget development, managing inventory and resources, overseeing contract employees, planning the orthotic and prosthetic schedule, conducting site surveys of commercial vendors, devising short and long range goals in accordance with local, VISN and VHA central office direction; and conduction quality assurance activities, etc. Communicates and interacts with phys...
