Opportunity Description
Under the supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, the Phlebotomist ensures accurate specimen collection, labeling, and handling. They maintain a clean environment, support patient comfort and safety, and help educate and reassure patients during procedures.
+ Specimen Collection: Accurately interprets provider test orders and follows approved standard operating procedures for all specimen collections.
+ Specimen Accessioning: Accurately uses the HIS and LIS for patient registration and test order entry.
+ Specimen Processing:
+ Evaluates provider test orders and collects specimens for acceptability and determines rejections according to established guidelines.
+ Accurately labels aliquot samples as required.
+ Recognizes and corrects defects before they are passed on to the next step of the process.
