Position Overview
New York University Abu Dhabi is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate or Research Associate in Astrophysics for a term of up to three years, with the possibility of an additional year based on performance.
Research Focus and Responsibilities
Work with Associate Professor Dave Russell on the accretion processes onto compact objects. The primary goal is to uncover the nature of relativistic jets and understand the connections between accretion and ejection in stellar‑mass black holes residing in X‑ray binaries (XBs). Projects will involve multiwavelength data (photometry, spectra and polarimetry) from transient XBs, optical monitoring, and the realtime pipeline X‑ray Binary New Early Warning System (XBNEWS). Comparative studies with AGN and other accreting systems, analysis of jet–interstellar medium interactions, and development of coding pipelines for optical imaging/photometric data analysis and spectral modelling are key ...
