Opportunity Description
In a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF), we are investigating the impact of the newly discovered process of airborne snow metamorphism (ASM) on the physical properties and isotopic composition of polar snow. This 2‑year PostDoc will develop and implement new model equations describing the evolution of snow microstructure and isotope signals during wind‑driven snow transport. Parameterizing these processes based on laboratory and Antarctic field data and integrating them into the coupled atmosphere‑snow model CRYOWRF will be a central part of the work.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement model equations for ASM processes.
- Parameterize snow microstructure and isotope signals using experimental and field data.
- Integrate processes into the coupled atmosphere‑snow model CRYOWRF.
- Perform advanced numerical simulations to quantify the impact of ASM on polar regions.
- Collaborate with internation...
