Professional Engineer 1 (Environmental) - NY HELPS

Duties Description The position will be located in the Region 8 - Avon office, in the Division of Materials Management. Specific duties will include:

1. Conducting routine compliance inspections, as well as inspections in response to complaints at solid waste management facilities (SWMFs) and RCRA generator and treatment storage and disposal facilities (TSDFs), including waste oil facilities. Performing or assisting with inspections related to E-Waste facilities, Rechargeable Batteries, Returnable Container Act, Film Plastics Recycling, Bag Waste Reduction Law, Polystyrene Foam Ban, etc.

2. Performing technical reviews of permit or registration applications for certain SWMFs regulated under 6 NYCRR Parts 360, 361 and 362. Preparing appropriate special permit conditions and coordinating with Division of Permits and Legal staff as needed.
