About Ashiyanaa
Ashiyanaa (formerly ASHA for Women) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1989 to provide culturally competent, trauma-informed support services to South Asian women and children impacted by interpersonal and domestic violence. Over the decades, Ashiyanaa has expanded its portfolio to include dedicated senior services, community awareness campaigns, and violence prevention education.
We serve individuals and families of South Asian heritage—with origins in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka—without discrimination or bias. Our holistic services include crisis intervention, community and legal referrals, career and mental health counseling, and financial and housing support designed to empower clients to lead peaceful lives with dignity, hope, and self-sufficiency.
