Overview

Psychiatric registrar (non‑training position) / Senior House Officer (PGY3+) at Gisborne Hospital, Tairāwhiti. Permanent rostered & varied hours in a 110‑bed acute care setting that serves a wide geographical area in East Cape NewZealand.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mental health assessment and treatment for both inpatient and community families.
• Carry out outpatient clinics, ward work and on‑call duties, with specialist psychiatrist supervision at all times.
• Manage complex, high‑pressure situations while maintaining a compassionate, patient‑centred approach.

Qualifications

• Medical degree and completion of basic training in psychiatry, with progression toward Fellowship or equivalent.
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of NewZealand.
• Suitable for Resident Medical Officers PGY3 and above.
