Registration: Clinical Psychologist with a current APC Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora. The role is situated within the Whaikaha Unit, a 4‑bed in‑patient Intellectual Disability (ID) unit.

Role Overview

The Whaikaha Unit provides regional clinical assessment and treatment for tāngata whaiora who present with challenging behaviour. For patients subject to the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act 2003, forensic considerations are incorporated into their support plans. The unit aims to develop a model of care and build a high‑care environment within current facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and diagnoses for adult ID patients
• Critically deliver interventions to support patients in building a meaningful life
• Deliver high‑quality patient care and act as a member of a multidisciplinary team
