Relay Protection Engineer

Insight Global is looking for a Relay Protection Engineer for an end client located in Spring Valley, NY. This role is 3 days in office and 2 days fully remote. This person will be joining the Electrical Engineering team to design, apply, and support utility grade relay protection systems across transmission and substation assets. Under limited supervision, this role supports small to large relay projects and provides engineering guidance to transmission, substation, and operations groups throughout the company. The engineer performs relay setting calculations, fault analysis, and coordination studies using industry tools, while supporting field personnel with testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis. Responsibilities include preparing design sketches for relay one lines, schematics, and construction drawings, as well as developing outage reports and corrective action plans following system disturbances.
