Opportunity Description
Project background
Falls are a leading cause of injury, reduced mobility, and loss of independence, particularly among older adults. Fear of falling (FoF) is both a psychological and behavioral factor that can significantly contribute to fall risk, often leading to activity avoidance, deconditioning, and increased vulnerability.
This project aims to outline the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) as innovative tools to assess fear of falling alongside intrinsic and extrinsic fall risk factors in realistic environments.
Job description
The primary objective is to investigate Fearing of Falling and fall risk in realistic environments using an immersive VR/AR-based platform. Specifically:
- Quantifying fear of falling through behavioral and physiological responses.
- Evaluating intrinsic risk factors such as balance, gait, reaction time, and cognitive load. <...
