The Rao Lab studies how circadian clocks regulate retinal neurovascular development, function, and disease. Using the mouse eye as a model, the lab investigates how neurons and blood vessels interact during development and how this coordination is influenced by internal timing mechanisms. Their research focuses on identifying molecular targets of circadian regulation within the retinal neurovascular unit and understanding how disruption of these rhythms affects retinal health.
