Description of Job Duties

Shereen Ilahi’s team on “Queer life at NCC”. This research focuses on queer life on campus, including students, staff, and faculty, beginning with campus responses to the 1970s gay rights movement and the AIDS crisis. From there, we will trace the establishment of various student and staff/faculty organizations such as the Gay and Lesbian Society (GLS) in 1994 – soon renamed as Impact – and the first National Coming Out Day celebration on campus in 1997, ending with the establishment of Cardinal Safe Zone and Outreach. We will use archival sources as well as conduct oral history interviews with faculty (including emeriti), students, staff, and alumni.

Requires 40-student hours of research, writing, and/or oral history assistance over summer 2025.
