Registered Nurse
Unit features a total of 19 beds. Ratios are a maximum of 1 RN to 4-5 patients on days and 1 RN to 5 patients on nights. Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetic complications and wounds, pneumonia (bacterial and viral), COPD exacerbations, hip fractures, and COVID-19. Post-operative care includes TURPs, hip and knee replacements, cholecystectomy, and appendectomy. RNs will infrequently titrate drips, with common medications including Heparin and Bumex. Both Charge Nurse and House Supervisor are available on day and night shifts. Nurse aides are present, with 1-3 CNAs on day shift and 1 on night shift. Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen. Telemetry is monitored by CCU staff, and the tele board is visible to med-surg staff. Shifts are primarily nights from 1900 to 0730 or days from 0700 to 1930. Weekend requirements are every other weekend, and holiday requirements are negotiable.
