Purpose of Role

The Scaler Operator will be responsible for safely operating the scaler machine, ensure the working areas have safe highwall conditions.

Role Context

Equipment Operations

• Ensure safe operating of the scaler machine.


• To clean open pit high wall by removing loose or dangerous rocks.


• Ensure the working areas have safe highwall conditions.


• Perform daily checks as indicated on the checklist of the Scaler to ensure that machine is safe to use before commencing with work.


• Perform a brake test procedure to check quality of brakes.


• Report any defects or sub-standards to the responsible foreman or supervisor.
