Opportunity Description

Position Summary
The Magnetic Spectrometer Instrumentation Scientist will enable world-class rare isotope beam experiments at FRIB by delivering expert operation, user support, and continuous improvement of magnetic spectrometer systems, while conducting and publishing impactful research in nuclear physics and related instrumentation technologies.

Major Duties/Responsibilities


+ Instrument support

+ Contribute to maintenance and technical improvements of the magnetic spectrometer and supporting systems

+ Take on an active role in the development of new tools (detectors, software, electronics ...) to improve the overall performance of spectrometer devices

+ Assist with defining and documenting standard maintenance and operating procedures



+ Conduct scientific research related to nuclear physics and/or magnetic spectrometer and related instrumentation technologies and publish scientific results
