This is the key responsibility of the MTI’s Energy Markets and Infrastructure Division. Energy security is an existential issue for Singapore. We import almost all of our energy supply and are exposed to global energy market movements. The energy crisis after COVID and the war in Ukraine have upended the global energy ecosystem. The climate crisis compels all countries to accelerate their pace of decarbonisation, even as they struggle with energy costs and unpredictable supply chain shocks. Amidst this backdrop, Singapore needs a stable, reliable, and cost‑competitive energy system that keeps the lights on and safeguards our economic competitiveness and dynamism.
