Responsibilities Serves as Supervisory Transportation Assistant with responsibility for planning and directing the activities of employees engaged in performing a variety of complex clerical and technical transportation functions. Ensures the accomplishment of special projects on a timely basis; adjusts work schedules and work conditions while keeping supervisor informed of potential delays or problems. Coordinates the movement of inbound and outbound shipments by the scheduling and coordinating of carrier delivery and the pick-up of freight. Arranges for the most economical shipment of freight, processes associated documents, and performs various tasks associated with the movement of materials. Keeps abreast of changes in transportation policies and regulations; determines the effects on overall work operations.
