Polysomnographic Technologist

A sleep technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. Responsibilities include in-center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and comprehensive patient care. The technologist provides sleep-related education and support to patients and families. The sleep technologist is able to perform the duties defined for a sleep technician and can provide oversight of other staff. Documents patient arrival, interactions, and consent for testing. Reviews and verifies departmental orders for testing and insurance or prior authorization verification. Reviews patient history and supporting documentation for medical necessity.
